IR Shootout--The Results Will Shock And Amaze You!!!

I liked 1/3/5. 5 originally stood out as favorite, but I wonder whether it because 4 was the immediate reference. Jumping back and forth between the 1/3/5, I liked each for different reasons and would happy with any of the three. I did not like 2/4.

Let's talk about that raised "G" pole piece on Strats

Leo was still coming into work through '69, he had a retention contract to consult. Leo designed the bullet truss rod and 3-bolt micro-tilt neck plate that rolled out in 1970. Fender did go to flat poles in the mid-'70s, but the stagger poles came back with the 57/62 reissues that came out in...

Let's talk about that raised "G" pole piece on Strats

I has nothing to do with the radius, the stagger poles were all about core width. And, yes, that math was thrown off every switched to Ernie ball and other light string sets in the late 1960s. But Strats and Teles the stagger pole/unwound G string is the combination used on so many classic...

    I hate GASSS!!!

These mini amps are all designed made by Boutique Amp Distribution (BAD). BAD own Soldano, Tone King, and Egnator, plus have manufacturing and distribution deals with Friedman amps/pedals, Morgan amps/pedals, Wampler pedals, and Bogner pedals. Since BAD already designed and manufacture the...

Vintage guitars (the brand, not old guitars)

One of Trey Wilkinson's brands, IIRC. Sister company to Fret-King. I swear someone here has one (or more).

    RIP Fernandes

I had always assumed they were a larger OEM manufacturer than brand, but I guess that's not true.

Dean wins their appeal on Gibson suit

Reading around, Gibson will appeal the decision, but otherwise Dean will get a new jury trial with more established rules on what evidence they can submit (and, if evidence is excluded, the judge must explain to the jury the reason why).

Question: OK, very nerdy tube amp tech question.

I just saw the tag, so a week late to the game. I'm a little confused. I take this to mean the amp used a shielded, coax cable from the Gain pot to V2 grid (tube input)? This confuses me....if it's coax cable, the shield gets grounded and only one end goes the ground (connecting both ends...

    GPOTD 6/28/24 - It's Fender Friday I'm in Love!

The tone settings are pretty versatile, letting it sounds more like more like a bass or a guitar-like "tic-tac" bass/baritone guitar. Jack Bruce aside, I think most play it like the latter. "Wichita Lineman" and ""Just Like Heaven" are great examples of the Bass VI as a unique instrument.

The Cure is definitely my reference point for the Bass VI Fender Bass VI 1974 - a stunning Sunburst Bass 6 w/all the Beatle features. https://reverb.com/item/82213993-fender-bass-vi-1974-a-stunning-sunburst-bass-6-w-all-the-beatle-features Another cool one just acquired its a exceptionally...

GPOTD 6/27/24 - Is it Throwback Thursday if it's just old and ugly?

I would guess the pickups are a similar design to DeArmond/Grestch Dynasonic, They may even be DeArmond.

Legend amps, why aren't they more sought-after?

Billy Gibbons rig and its spare, from probably 20-ish years ago. What I heard it the amps he promotes like ZT, Magnatone, etc. are used for his sound on stage, but the JMP1's go to the PA.
