honorable mention:

Mammoth WVH may not be groundbreaking, but it's a hell of a solid release, especially for a one man effort.

Daddy’s Home was far and away my fav album of the year. Japanese Breakfast and Snail Mail both put out really solid LPs. Dig the Green Lung record. One that’s not been mentioned yet is Let Me Do One More by Illuminati Hotties which is really good.

The Pom Pom Squad LP is rad too. In my mind it’s kind of intertwined with Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour — which is also worth checking out if you like glossy pop rock.

My big favourite this year would have to be the latest album from A Formal Horse ("Meat Mallet").
Really cool creative prog/avant garde rock band, happened upon them by chance in a random spotify playlist. Fantastic album.

Other than that I love the new Leprous album Aphelion. They've really developed their own thing the last few years, and the musicianship is insane.
Less metal than they were before, but I think I like their newer direction better.

McStine & Minnemann - II
Fabulous genrebending exercise from these 2 multi-instrumentalists. Marco's drumming never ceases to amaze me.
Released late last year, but took a few months until I got around to checking it out.

Also quite like the lastest ABBA and Transatlantic albums. They're good, although the Transatlantic one isn't quite up to the standard of their earlier ones.

I haven't heard that much new stuff in the last year, but Cobra Poems is magic. I don't know how Romano can be so creative and prolific. He must have a Prince-level workrate.
Same here, haven't listed to hardly any new music except Daniel Rom and over the past couple years as it's mainly been old new stuff for me but Daniel is one of those like Dylan, Prince ,Pollard . etc who just crank out good stuff effortlessly it seems.
