Achtung! Album(s) of the year

Once again like last year, there isn't any album that stands out for me.

Maybe my most listened to 2021 album was Soen - Imperial, a very good album but not quite as good as their last 2019 album Lotus.
 
I don't make a point of listening to new music, so this isn't commentary on the year as a whole, but St. Vincent's Daddy's Home is the only record of 2021 that I listened to over and over. It's Bowie-esque in the fact that it's 100% recycled post-consumer content, but it is the absolute peak expression of all the musky 70s vibes I live for. I'll get it on vinyl so I can actually make a listening experience of it.
 
Although the album won’t be released until 2022, this song from it is amazing.




2021 also confirmed to me that the majority of metal released now and most big metal bands don’t move me in any way anymore. I have to dig very deep to find stuff that moves me.

I did nearly forget this album which, despite being horrific almost unlistenable white noise, did appeal to me

 
The only new albums I know are from the dusty bands I've known for decades.
Deep Purple, Saxon, Abba...

I saw Minnemann play with Satriani years ago...he was unreal and got the biggest ovation of anyone, including Joe. His playing and solo... just remarkable.
