Baimun's "Oppenheimer" movie review:

The experience of seeing Oppenheimer in the theatre is like watching one of the best accountants in the world do your taxes, while the best doctors from the Mayo clinic give you an MRI and a colonoscopy at the same time.

It's loud, somewhat uncomfortable at times, and once it is finally over, you are appreciative of the skills of everyone involved... but hope that you will never need to experience sitting through it again.

Yeah.... put that one right over here... next to "Shindler's List".

That part where Robert Oppenheimer was riding a horse and Batman turned into a monster-looking thing before they tried to a-bomb Wayne Tower was a little weird. I mean, they took some historical license. Oppenheimer fought the entire Justice League!

I’m tempted to see it. But I’m also disinclined to see a movie that paints as a victim the guy who tested an atomic bomb in New Mexico because the people living there were Mexicans and Indigenous people, resulting in thousands of people getting cancer.

I heard Oppenheimer and Barbie are the same movie

I saw the Barbie movie on Saturday.... it was a fun ride. Kinda like the Brady Bunch movie where there's plenty of references if you are fan of the ip, and plenty of jokes if you hate the ip.... a lot of chaos, and Will Ferrel is there to help you forget logic and reality for a while so some of the nonsense can work for the story line.

I'll give it a B.... for....

That would be very… non-theatrical.

While Byrne himself is very reserved, when you factor in characters like Adrien Belew and their early days at CBGB, I think it could be a pretty interesting story.

"Behind the Oversized Suit" :helper:

Back to the OP... Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr did great work with their supporting roles.... Emily Blunt did a great time with limited screen time.

I hope Gary Oldman and Florence Pugh were well paid for their contributions but, there wasn't much for them to do with their roles.

I'm going on holiday to the UK in a couple of weeks and I have no doubt Oppenheimer is very good, but I'm having a hard time mustering the enthusiasm to go and see it while I'm there. It feels a bit too much like hard work during a vacation.

I'll definitely watch Barbie though. It looks like tremendous fun!

Haven’t seen it yet, but I certainly plan to.

I’ve read tons about Oppenheimer and colleagues, and this is my favourite story. I’ll be extremely annoyed if the movie skips it. Unacceptable.

Keep in mind, this is a Christopher Nolan movie.... so you'll also be disappointed if you expect the female characters to have much more development than furrowing their brow or fucking the antagonist.

Yeah. I’ve admired his filmmaking, but I’ve never really kinda ambivalent of his movies.

He’s like a poor man’s Kubrick.

Coincidentally, Kubrick too made a film about atomic bombs. Hmmmm.
