F*CKF*CKF*CKF*CK... Tom Petty in critical conditon after cardiac arrest

I'm a big fan of Petty, because it's all about the song, not about the singer, not about the guitar leads, but the song. That is exactly the same formula used by the Beatles, the Stones, and really the ones that matter in the long run.

The songs that truly endure are almost always deceptively simple.

The NY Times, CNN, BBC, and many other news outlets have yet to report on his death. There's some stuff floating that someone leaked inaccurate information from the hospital.

Barnstock 2017 should do Refugee.

Easy enough song, F# Minor, A, & E, with the bridge being D & B

@VoidTerraFirma and I did Breakdown last time. I'm not going to say I played it very well, but we did it. I know a bunch of Petty tunes and will gladly play them all at the Barn. They are kinda hard to do without a good keyboard player. Benmont is so much of their sound.

Yep. The reports are all over.
The no brain activity report is not good even if he is alive.
Best Wishes Tom.

My first paying gig I sang Break Down, It took me forever to get that intro down ,an d I was so proud of the fact that I could both play the intro and sing the song as well. He has always had a special place for me

Horrible loss, huge influence. I recommend everyone try to get a chance to watch the Running Down a Dream documentary.

That report says the Petty family have a DNR order for Tom. So he must have been sick.

Not necessarily - the DNR could have been Tom's standing request to his family if anything like this should happen.

My wife and I have discussed many times that if either of us were to end up in a similar fashion, that the other has immediate DNR orders.
