I have tried various slides over the years and never found one I was comfortable with until recently. This is my Jetslide which gets around the issue of not having all four fingers available for chords etc when wearing a slide. Wear it like a ring on your wedding finger and play normally with all four fingers and when you need to play slide, wrap your pinky around the tab and pull it forward.

Works really well and is the most comfortable I've been with playing slide.

I think that's probably true. I'd always find with your typical barrel slides be they glass, brass or whatever, they'd roll around my finger and I could never find one that fit comfortably on any of my fingers without it being a compromise.

It's very easy. The pictures in my OP were with a guitar in hand but these might show it better.

First as if I was playing a bar chord.

Does it hold still without the pinky on the tab?
Not that I CAN use my other fingers at the same time as using a slide, but I’d like to learn.

To play slide, you have to use your pinky on the tab to hold against your wedding finger which is where/what you're applying pressure with to play slide. If you let go of the tab, then it naturally falls back out of the way as shown in the bar chord picture. Hope that makes sense!

@dodgechargerfan, out of interest, I actually got put onto these by a Canadian rock band who were touring over here in the UK called The Commoners. Their guitarist, Ross Citrullo, told me about them when I got chance to talk to him after one of their gigs and said you could get them on Amazon.

That might be, or might have been, true in North America but the only people carrying them in Europe are Thomann when I looked a couple of months ago. I ended up ordering mine direct from Jetslide as it worked out slightly cheaper and I'd rather pay a small business direct as they should make more out of it.

I’ve heard of that band. I’m pretty sure I’ve missed them perform once or twice. They were on a bill that I wanted to see and couldn’t go for one reason or another.
They have the 2025 UK tour on LP on their website. That was fast.. Good for them.
And they’re headed back over there later this year.

I just checked Amazon Canada for the JetSlide, and they’re not listed.

Direct from JetSlide it is!
 
I never had much luck with bottleneck style slide, tho I will use one occasionally in standard tuning.
For serious slide work in other tunings I prefer a horizontal position and a solid bar.
 
I have one with a glass sleeve. I like it, but I've not used it in awhile. I'll pull it out of the case and take it for a slide.

Mine's brass. I might well look at a glass sleeve one at some point in the future as up to now, the best slide tone I've ever had was from a really thick walled shot glass just holding it.
 
I had a gig at the weekend and was using my Jetslide on a couple of songs and wondered how people were getting on who'd ordered them?
 
I’m not using the one I have at the moment. I have not played much guitar of late. I’ve been busy with other concerns.

When I watched the broadcast of “Back To The Beginning” I noticed that Scott Holiday of Rival Sons was using a Jet Slide.
 
The only issue I can see with these is playing behind the slide.

That's the primary benefit of using a slide on your pinky. Sonny Landreth (a few before and many others since) will play additional notes or even chords concurrently with/behind the notes their hitting with the slide. I've dabbled, but my abilities are weak. For us mere mortal sliders, this seems like a good option.

To the thinner barrel, I would think it would require even more precision than a bottleneck style (regardless of material).
