What's a good but inexpensive whiskey for mixing?

I wouldnt mix a whiskey that wasnt good enough to drink on its own.

That's just a waste of good booze.

I don't mix whisky but if I did I'd buy the cheapest stuff I could find since the taste is a lot less relevant.

I like Four Roses yellow label or Jim Beam Rye for mixing. Jim Beam bourbon is another good one. Sub $20 per fifth and good enough.

small town troubles, y'know?

I do love me some turkey

when I lived out east, 151 rum was the order of the day
I think it was Lamb's Navy...?

When i worked graveyard for 3 years, i chugged wild turkey 101 pretty much every day to help me get to sleep in the middle of the day.

Probably was unwise, but i survived, and i still like wild turkey. before that it was Yukon Jack, which is 100 proof, but it got too sweet for me.

Using those for school science projects was asking for trouble.. Especially when you managed to get your hands on 20 of them in a few weeks notice.

It's funny though that even if you painted them, the teachers still knew what they were.

They're pretty good for furniture legs too. Especially if you can fill them with something like sand or even a dry-ish mix of cement or plaster.
