Achtung! Who else here has a watch fetish?

Dug out my old Mickey Mouse tank watch a few months back and stuck a new battery in it. Wore it a couple of times.

Thought you guys might want to know that.

At the risk of blowing up this thread, here is what I wear:

Analog watches do not work well for refereeing soccer games. I use the Casio as a countdown timer for games and have an app on the Apple watch that allows me to input teams, goals, cautions and sendoffs, and other data pertaining to a game (including stoppages which can be added to the gametime), all while counting up to the final whistle. Not elegant, but supremely functional. The last "real" watch I had was a Citizen Eco-Drive titanium watch that stopped working about ten years ago (apparently the cost to fix those things - replacing the capacitor - makes it a rather uneconomical.)

so....one watch can see 1 minute into the future??

I love this watch. It was cheap but reliable and is ALWAYS right. I never wore a watch most of my life but then jobs came up that were very time oriented. Since I retired I keep thinking time is no longer important but every time I take it off it's just weird.

My 1981 Devil Diver. I got it for my 21st birthday and wore it for a couple of years before I put it away, 35 years ago. It needs a freshening up, and new band. I think I’ll drop it by the jeweler this week.
I took it to the best jeweler/watch repair shop on the MS Coast. It needs a full servicing, cleaning and hopefully they can polish the scratches from the crystal. I was working in a body shop back then, and also in the pressroom of the local newspaper. It took a lot of abuse.

Finally. Covid-related delays, a new face had to be ordered from Germany. So good to have it back in service. I broke it in 1983 and it’s been in it’s box ever since.

I’m not a huge watch guy. My buddy has several watches that cost more than most cars, but I don’t have money or inclination for that. This was Dad’s watch. I encouraged Mom to sell it, but she wanted me to have it. The gold is a bit much and certainly not my thing, but I still wear it now and then. Just got it cleaned and a new battery.

Breitling makes a fine timepiece for sure. The fact that it was your dad's only adds to its value. Good on your mom for convincing you to keep it. :thu:
