GPOTD 05.22.15

This is my next build. I call it, Bite Me. I sincerely hope it gives you all nightmares for the rest of your lives (lol).

I love it! It's a bit busy but if you're going to do something this crazy, might as well go all out.

Btw mega props for not only bending the Formica around the rim (which is damn hard) but binding it too!!!
 
Wow, that is pretty cool. Looks like the wacky 60's Italian guitars....but even wackier.
 
Funny enough, I never put in a reply to this thread originally. Most of you probably know what I would have said a year ago.

Things do change. It wasn't until I played a DiPinto Galaxie 4 (albeit one of the subdued natural finish ones) that I gained an appreciation for a well-made, somewhat wacky guitar. I gotta say, then, I kinda like the one in the OP. The newer one? Eh, not as much, but I don't hate it :wink:.

Thanks Doug. I can always count on a fellow builder (and a good one at that) to bring a rational, realistic opinion to the conversation. I'm sure you hear this alot, but someday I will own one of your guitars.

So you resurrected a thread from nearly a year ago and want to talk about a comment I made. Ok.

The GPOTD is a time honored tradition where people post honest opinions, jokes, and generally rip the OP to shreds.

F- was a cheap joke. You don't have to like it or think it was funny. Don't take this place too seriously. Especially one liners like that.

Yeah, I get it. . But I didn't post my guitar on your sight. Someone else did. And they have the right. But I have a right to defend what I do. I just have a different way of expressing creativity and its intentional that I build them this way. The ergonomics are not player friendly. The business described by others is out of a deep admiration I have for vintage Italian and Japanese guitars. It's not for everyone. I love criticism believe me. But at least make it substantive. Don't sell yourself short. You and others here are better than that. And I guarantee if you were to come across a website mocking your build where the general consensus is mostly comments 13 yr olds would make, you would be sticking up for yourself too.

You're taking us way too seriously. And this interaction is precisely why it's a bad idea to get involved with Internet guitar forums. Humor and sarcasm don't necessarily translate through the screen and someone always ends up offended. You're making art. You don't have to defend it. It's art.

And @Southpaw surfer, once you get to know Howie you realize that 90% of what he says is for the lulz.

Plus he's much less of an asshole than I am. :grin:

That type of rational thought has no place in these GPOTD threads....it's the nature of the beast. Going after the haters isn't going to win you any points. Ignore the negative, focus on the positive.

I like it and all it's big over the top wackyness.
