What movies have you watched in the last few days?

So what you’re saying is that the alien was too human-like?
Lol, yeah that.

Seriously though, while Species is a fairly fun boobs and creatures movie, it is a bit of a shame that they didn't have Sil do at least some pondering over what, exactly she was.

Fairly faithful to the original story and fairly entertaining. Obviously featuring a hilariously over-the-top performance by Nicolas Cage.

Not great, not terrible

Finally got around to watching it at the weekend. I enjoyed it a lot. And obviously Nic Cage's performance is stark, staring bonkers.

How does it compare to Mandy? I've been put off by some reviews that say there is some disgusting visuals. I don't mind a bit of gore and really enjoyed Mandy but I don't like gratuitous disgusting imagery. Planet Terror for example, turned if off after 10 minutes once the puss started flowing.

It’s pretty tame. There is some body horror and some disgusting visuals, but it’s not too gratuitous

pmc100:- depends on how you are with body horror. The horror isn't splatter gore, blood everywhere stuff, but there are some pretty grotesque and disgusting scenes. I'll not give any spoilers, but let's sayif you're the sort of person who was icked-out by 'Brundlefly', then definitely don't watch this film.

Once upon a Time in Hollywood
I missed the beginning and watched about 30 minutes of it. Looks decent, and I'll probably watch it in its entirety later, but the little bit that I saw was so overloaded with QT's anachronistic quirky pop culture obsessions that it started to bug me. Supposedly set in 1969, but every other car is a '65 Mustang or a mint condition shiny chrome classic from the 50's. People listening to Paul Revere and the Raiders "Spirit of '67" which no one would have still been playing in 1969. Driving by Pandora's Box, which was gone by '67. Sharon Tate goes to the movies and sees the trailer for CC & Company, which came out in 1970. "The Invaders" being advertised on a bus bench, which seems incredibly unlikely, and doubly so because it was cancelled in 1968. At some level, I suppose it's intentional, to create a Hollywood that only exists in scrambled memories, but it's fucking annoying.

Thanks. Not a huge fan of The Fly so I'll probably skip it.

I rewatched Quarantine last night. It is a scene for scene reshoot of a Spanish film named REC. It is a delightful and terrifying horror flick. I highly recommend it. Horribly inaccurate virology, but it is a horror flick so.....

I also watched another Spanish movie on Netflxi called the Platform. It was decent dystopian scifi.

I watched KUNG FURY again...I have probably watched it 15 times now. So good. Youtube.

I also watched this movie called Slave To The Grind about the Grindcore scene (also Youtube). It really had me locked in.

As for the Monty Python movies, I randomly will watch Life Of Brian and The Grail but The Meaning Of Life just doesn't do much for me. It has a couple of moments but that's it.

I watched Guardians of the Galaxy II last night. Decent for mindless entertainment. The visuals are so over-the-top though, colors and lights everywhere you look. If the Death Star showed up it would be worshipped for it’s clean, black-and-white purity.

Hostiles - well made western with Christian Bale channeling John Wayne in The Searchers. Good but grim as fuck. Definitely not one to watch if you want cheering up

The First Purge - The usual enjoyable hokum with heavy dollops of social commentary you expect from a Purge movie

Watched it on a long-haul flight. It's good, but like you say, grim as fuck. I had to watch Wreck-it Ralph 2 immediately afterwards to bring myself back up again.
