White Elephant Recordingfest SONG REVEAL!!!!

Well, today is when the rubber meets the road. Although I still have some music tracks left to finish, I will be doing the vocals today.

My son is starting to hate me because of the white elephant tune. It has become an earwig tune for him and he had play the you tube video just to put his mind at ease

The white elephant tune is making me hate myself.

:spit:

I like your tune by the way.

Mine has been unusual because it is a tune I have never heard in my life. Turned out to be easier than I thought. However, the harmonica part is killing me.....lmbo

Friends shot me back a few issues which I attempted to fix for Mix #2. Hopefully this one is the last.

The original was definitely not an earwig song, but I think my version might be. :embarrassed:

Holy crap Batman!

Do you guys have any idea how many vocal tracks this song has?

FFS!

I'll give you a hint...

Some of the choruses have AT LEAST 8.

That's 8 individual vocal tracks, each with their own specific eq, pan, and fx.

It's like a fucking queen song :banghead:

Well this white elephant thing - I've mixed feelings about it - In a way it's good I'm recording something like this because it's in a tuning I normally don't use (dropped D) with chord shapes that are unusual played at a relatively rhythmic fast tempo.

And to get that wall of guitars effect, well you gotta overdub for the most part.

I have totally different tones for the verse guitars and the chorus guitars. This pic is the chorus. The verses are the empty spots on the left not playing at this point in the track and all the big swath of empty space on the right is for vocals.

Then the three stereo pairs on the far right are some ambient texture guitars.

And I'm not anywhere near done really.

You would never imagine it - it sounds so sparse - just drums keys, a voice, some lead guitar at the beginning. But yeah, I would guess towards the end the vocals get real thick.

I'm so sorry. I totally forgot about the harmonica part until you mentioned it. thwap0

I'll have to find some time to work on mine over the weekend. If worse comes to worst, I can submit what I've got, but I'm not 100% happy with it.

Well I'm having Mrs. Bomb sing it. I heard her practicing it the other day. I've got the mic out and mixer and I'm ready, now I wait for her.

I'm not happy with either of mine. But I'll just have to accept that I'm not Robert Smith.

Mine is done, unless I choose to do another mix.
