White Elephant Recordingfest SONG REVEAL!!!!

I can almost see the finish line. Most of the tracks are done. I have done NO LESS than 200 takes on that opening guitar blast, I'm not 100% satisfied with ANY of them, and it is really starting to piss me off. I either fuck up the first half, or the second. I have the tone right where I want it though, so at least I have that going for me.

I also just added a pre-intro intro that is killer!

I'm going try a few more times to get that stupid riff nailed, then it's time to start mixing.

I'm still pretty happy with mine... the mix could probably be a bit glossier, but I think it's fine where it's at.

FINALLY!!!!

I got a take of that riff that I can live with. The rest is just gravy.

So, wanna know what the secret was to getting through the intro riff?

Ok.

But first let me say this...

For the last several weeks it's been VERY humid here, we're talking Florida humid, and although my hands haven't been sweaty per se, my left hand has been sticking to the back of the guitar neck like mad, regardless of which guitar I try.

So,

I put a splash of baby powder on my hand, worked it in for a few seconds and BAM! First try.

Like it was nothing at all.

Go figure.

Just sent out links for better or worse. I have 0 time to work on these over the next couple of days. They'll just have to do as is.

Been working on mine all evening. I think I've got all the tracks I need, just need to get it mixed.

I'm hoping to start tracking vocals tomorrow sometime or perhaps Monday. It depends on when I can get Mrs. Bomb to rehearse the existing tune so she's got the melody down.

Everything else is done but I had an idea today while at the Minnesota State Fair about adding a part at the very end.

GAH!

I've sung this a hundred times today, and it just gets worse.

Time to put a stake in it and call it good. I'm done. Whew.

I might do one more mix today. :embarrassed:

I'm happy with it already, but since you guys seem to not be satisfied I might as well give it another go.

It's weird, when i convert the WAV to MP3 it sounds all mega reverby and lousy. Well, lousy-er than the WAV anyhow.

Hmm. I'll have to fiddle with this a bit. I don't know why this is happening.

What MP3 settings? I never go below 192, and usually go 320.

FoxTab or something like that, i think that was the problem.

I just downloaded a shareware converter and it worked fine. Nothing is ever easy.

Does Reason/Record not give you an option to bounce as an MP3?

No, thats one of the major complaints in the forum, just as WAV files for some, er, Reason.

Jeez, i just realized i haven't eaten. Any of you guys get absorbed in this stuff and time flies and you forget to eat? I need a sammich.
