What was your first concert?

Not exactly sure. That part of the 1980's were a bit of a blur.... Was either of the following:

Live Aid (Philadelphia)
Ozzy Osbourne - Killer of Giants Tour
Iron Maiden - Don't remember what tour

Back in high school, I used to hang out with this girl who was way too hot for me. Anytime Journey's Faithfully came on, she instantly became turned on. For some odd reason, every mix tape I had at that time had Faithfully almost every other song

I like Journey, but that (like most power ballads) was a terrible song. It's too bad you had to willingly subject yourself to it .... as a former high school horndog, though, I completely understand.

It's amazing what associations can do. While I know Faithfully is a terrible song, it is one of my favorite songs

My first could have been Elton John under the Gateway Arch in St Louis on 4th of July weekend in 1982. I didn't go specifically to see him. He was just playing the 4th of July festival. Didn't catch the whole show.

The first show I went to see was Zebra at Six Flags. 1st row. Great show.

Soon after was Rush w/Rory Gallager on the Signals tour. 4th row right in front of Geddy Lee.

My first show was Kiss in '79 but I don't remember much of it.

This was my first "real" concert:

In my defense, here are my first five shows, in order.

1) Andy Gibb
2) Kansas / Molly Hatchet
3) Blue Oyster Cult / Foghat
4) the Clash
5) the Dead Kennedys

Cheap Trick and Kiss in August of 1977.

Pretty much no one knew who Cheap Trick was at the time. Kiss played one of the shortest headlining sets I've ever seen (maybe 90 minutes including encores).

Dad took me to see Brewer and Shipley at the college chapel. We had no idea what a "toke" was. They were pretty good. Played more than a few Dylan covers. Great harmonies and great, big Guild guitars.

No need to make excuses. In '77 I would have loved to see Any Gibb. Of course I was 6, but that doesn't matter.

Yanni, June of 1995, at Jiffy Lube Live in Manasshole, Virginia. This was during Yanni’s massive wave of popularity in the USA following every PBS station running pledges drives with Live at the Acropolis every other night for six months straight. It was a killer show and I’m not ashamed I went.

My first rock show was Nine Inch Nails and David Bowie at the same venue on October 6, 1995. Reznor had a sloppy night that disappointed. The Bowie set was pretty dull—his backing band sounded like smooth jazz fusion so we left early, as did most of the other kids. You can find videos of the show on YouTube.

I’ve lived in NoVa most of my life and haven’t seen a real show at Jiffy Lube. I saw the Warped Tour there, but that was setup in the parking lot, not the venue.
