Working from home...

I can do about 90% of my work from home, but when a new prototype circuit board is built I need to be in the lab to set it up for running tests.

Wish I could. :embarrassed:
Going to have to figure out something clever quite quick...
Online lessons maybe? You're a pretty talented guy from what I've seen. There's gonna be a lot of folks stuck inside looking for something to do. It may be an opportunity. Mark could probably help you figure out how to get started.

100%
wfh for the rest of the month at this point...already do a couple times a week.

welp....brought my company laptop home to make sure everything connects up and all the programs function. i only got this thing right before xmas, while i was still on my PC. everything seems to connect, so WFH is all set.
there was a little bit of a panic tho, i've had my wifi set up for like 7 years and haven't had to use the log in since then. when the log in prompt popped up asking for the modem admin password....i was like "fuck, i don't remember what that is"......then reason kicked and i remembered that i wrote all those passes down and remembered where i stashed to paper. whew.....

I hate it, but you might want to use LastPass. That way, it's easier for hackers... I mean you to get to all your passwords.

I can do the paperwork and move photos around and such, but most of my job revolves around actual flight hardware, and they kinda frown on taking Satellites home in your trunk. So, there are about a dozen of us that come in most days, and >400 people "working from home". I know I got 45 minutes of work done in 4 hours of working remote yesterday. Maybe my amp is too close to my desk? Nah.

With coronavirus making businesses reconsider whether their staff really need to commute to an office to get their jobs done, lots of people are suddenly finding themselves working at home. It's a big transition if you're not used to it, and there are plenty of obstacles to deal with if you're in your own house and not surrounded by colleagues.

One of them is the sheer amount of porn that is lurking about on the web. You never had so much time to go looking for videos of this ilk, especially if your work-free time usually has to deal with things like taking care of children or going to the gym. The temptation is there, and we have a few tips and tricks to make sure you stay away from the porn and actually do some damn work.

I’ve spent the week trying to get things set up for everyone.
Actually, trying to get the people that should be setting this up to do their damned jobs.

We’ve got IT pretty much set. There a few people that still need to test.

We started getting requests for VPN access from other areas, but most of what they needed could be securely accessed without the need for VPN. The frustrating thing is the requests would come tome for approval with no details of to what they need access. I can’t approve that.

Got my NASA-issued notebook yesterday. There is still no order to stay at home for my Center, but I knew there was a limited supply. It's a dual edged sword, now I can work 24/7.

I can do most everything from home. My admin does all our billing and helps me with project expenses and much of her job is dealing with the paperwork. If I work from home I feel bad knowing that she has to go in and I'm hanging out at home, so I try to go to the office every day. Our company just announced that we need to prepare to work from home. I told her we'll go tomorrow to get everything she needs to set up a home office. Then I can stay home and not feel guilty.

I do have that ability for many things, and with very limited creativity, can do client appointments that way too, via Skype, FaceTime, etc. Court is a different matter (other than filing, which is now electronic, so that can be done from anywhere), but the Idaho Supreme Court has asked the courts to continue (lawyer talk for postpone) hearings until after April 10, or be held by phone, unless there are some constitutional deadlines in some criminal matters. Among other measures. Fortunately, for other reasons, I had set up my computer at home and new iPad Pro so I could more easily work from home, and even had brought home a laser printer/multi machine with a good scanner. Will signings and related or similar will need to be handled in person, but I bet we can get that done and still be socially distant.

As of Friday, we were talking about about corporate HQ working from home for one day as a test. As of Monday Morning, corporate HQ was in shutdown mode starting Tuesday. As of 10:embarrassed:0am, company president sent a video out that the entire company, worldwide, is on lockdown. Only absolutely essential people to be in the buildings. No supervisor discretion. If your hands aren't need to manufacture something, you are to be at home.
