That bridge was made by Schaller. Fender Japan called it the system 1, and was used on MIJ Fender and Squier Contemporary Series guitars in the 80s. I bought a couple when they first came out and they were great playing and sounding guitars.

sounds like signal being grounded, either by stray wires touching or the switch touching the sides of the cavity if it is painted with sheilding paint
