Food everybody raves about

Thai food. I’ve been taken 3 times and each, with different people and different places. I have asked that they pick something for me that is delicious. One I could stomach and ate to be polite. One I sent back after a taste. The last I refused to eat as it literally smelled like the ingredients were spoiled and rotten. I did like the tea but it was mostly cream and sugar. More like a desert.

Hey @Lerxst — are you related to this guy?

When Chipotle was mentioned, I assumed you were talking about the smoke dried chilli (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chipotle) and was confused because that is good stuff in my experience.

Then I realised there is a restaurant chain (https://www.chipotle.com/), which what I assume you're all stating is garbage, just I'd never heard of it. There are apparently now 13 of these in the UK, all in the greater London area.

Definitely the chain... not the style of food. REAL Chipotle style restaurants should band together and sue that "Subway... but... RICE!" bullshit for besmirching their good name.

Shot to the ass, and they're to blame.
They give smoke dried jalapeños, a bad name, bad name.

Thai food is delicious

Indeed. Thai food has such a solid, approachable flavor profile that even second-rate half-assed Americanized Thai food is palatable when you’re stuck somewhere and just need something that tastes decent.

Coconut. Peanuts. Lime. Basil. Cilantro. You could do way worse. I mean, you might have to suck it up and go to Chipotle — which isn’t good, but if it’s that or a Hardee’s or Pizza Hut or whatever when you’re on the road, Chipotle is a fine lesser of two evils options.

Here’s a food/food experience I don’t get the love for — RESTAURANT BREAKFAST/BRUNCH. Almost anyone who can cook can make food as good or better than restaurant breakfast at home for pennies on the dollar and without the hour-long wait time to get a table.

Restaurant breakfast is noisy, filled with other people’s children, overpriced, and disappointing. Restaurant brunch is all that PLUS being forced to order “the buffet” at $25/person whilst you try to identify if they even put any booze in you’re drink—all while someone shares a fork with their French Bulldog named Charles.

I’m not certain that nutrition degree from Dino Mike University is working out as well as you think it is.
He’s not wrong about meatless burgers though if he’s talkin bout impossible burgers… they do taste like shit. Tofu is good though and “garden” burgers are fine

Honestly, Impossible/Beyond burgers are totally deal-withable as a mediocre burger. I’m not a big burger person and sometimes fake meat burger minus like 1/2 the toppings is the only vegan option so I’ll eat em. They’re fine and generally a reasonable sub for subpar ground beef in terms of serving as a condiment delivery system. The fake sausages made by either company are better. All of these have a noticeable pea protein/faux heme iron taste, but I don’t find that a deal breaker. I mean, this stuff is junk food and not my first choice, but it’s fine. A good black bean/beet/kale/lentil/whatever burger is almost always preferable but not always available.

Oh, i have a few drinks:

Gin - potpourri flavoured alcohol that overpowers everything you mix it with

milk - milk is not even meant dor human consumption. Don’t even get me started in adding it to team or coffee

A country with food that often is raved about is Italy. Driving around in Italy and eating at restaurants is often disappointing, though. Pizza and pasta are simple dishes that never surprise. I’ve had pizzas in Italy with thick stiff bottom that could not be cut with knife.
At medium restaurants they often serve a piece of meat, and you can choose 4 different sauces, ie you make your own dish. No french chef would come up with such an idea; no, in France the chef create a dish where all the flavors are balanced. In Italy they also like to serve many small dishes in a row, but when you as No 2 get a roasted pigeon without sauce or anything, you realize Italy is not a great food country
But OK, if you go to really fancy places, it will be very good. But that is the same in most countries?

We're going to Italy this summer.

One day we are taking a cooking class. So at least if the food is disappointing that day it will be my fault.

I like every single last one of the foods listed in this thread
